What is Google Africa Developer Scholarship Program

Google Africa Developer Scholarship program is a Grow with Google, Andela, and Pluralsight partnership to support software developers in Africa on Android, Google Cloud, and Mobile Web courses. The aim of this program is to continuously engage with aspiring and existing developers on these tracks to become professional developers with skills that can get them opportunities after the program.

What is Andela Learning Community

The Andela Learning Community is a network of technologists and tech enthusiasts across Africa dedicated to learning how to use technology to solve humanity’s problems. The ALC facilitates your learning through the aid of guided mentorship from super awesome learning community ambassadors. Our goal is to provide an ever-growing population of aspiring technologists with the resources and environments they need to become world-class problem solvers.

What is the Duration of this Program?

The program will be executed in 5 different phases

• Application Phase -(MAY - JUNE) - 3 Weeks

• Learning Phase 1 - (JUNE - JULY) - 6 Weeks

• Learning Phase 2 - (JULY - SEPT) - 6 Weeks

• Project Phase - (SEPT - OCT) - 3 Weeks

• Certification Phase - (OCT - DEC) - 6 Weeks

How do I get selected into GADS?

CLOUD - take the Associate Cloud Engineer Skill IQ assessment OR 1+ hrs of role-specific engagement

AAD - take the Associate Android Developer Skill IQ OR 1+ hrs of role-specific engagement

How to advance to the Learning Phase 2?

• AAD - 100+ score on Associate Android Developer Skill IQ OR 10+ hrs of role-specific engagement

• CLOUD - 100+ score on Associate Cloud Engineer Skill IQ assessment OR 10+ hrs of role-specific engagement

Can I change my email?

No, unfortunately, you cannot change your email post application. Use an email you have access to for the duration of the program. Emails will be a main mode of communication.

Can I change my track?

No, unfortunately, you cannot change tracks post-selection. You will have to stick with the track you have.

How do I access Learning Content?

How do I access Andela Learning Community Support?

How can I ask questions or raise concerns?

1. Andela - Raise a ticket at http://community.andela.com/ - Use Submit a ticket link on the Navigation Bar

2. Pluralsight - Send an Email to [e-mail]

3. Qwiklabs - Use the Chat button in the bottom right corner to initiate a support session.

If l download course content from Pluralsight and watch offline will that still counts for the hours

Yes you can still watch offline and connect later to get your hours synced

How do I get my Qwiklabs login credentials?

You have to use the links provided within the video modules only. Otherwise, you cannot access the free Qwiklabs offered in the program. Go to Pluralsight, get into the video course, look for the Lab modules, Open the provided link and enjoy the redirect to Qwiklabs.

Will I be provided with a job at the end of the course?

We don’t guarantee job opportunities post the program but the skills gained will help you get opportunities after the program. Learners qualified for open roles at Andela and Andela Talent Marketplace will be recommended for those opportunities.
